All About the Big Old Grey Man
All over the world, there are tons of confirmed species of animals. But among some (if not most) paranormal enthusiasts, the possibility of unconfirmed life on earth is a high chance indeed. Creatures such as the Loch Ness monster and Bigfoot have garnered lots of popularity and attention, but we can’t be sure if they exist. In this article, we will talk about a creature such as this, with lots of stories and mystery surrounding it but no confirmation as of yet of existence. This creature is called the Old Grey Man.
The Grey Man (also known as Am Fear Liath Mor) is said to be either a creature or haunting presence that resides in a mountain pass in Scotland, known as Ben Macdui. Stories from people who claim to have encountered the Grey Man describe it as being a very tall creature with short hair covering its body, looking similar to a Yeti or Sasquatch. While there is very limited evidence of the Grey Man being real, those who claim to have seen it say that it causes a real feeling of uneasiness.
In 1925, an experienced mountaineer named Professor Collie stated that as he climbed the mountain of Ben Macdui 35 years before, he suddenly began to hear something behind him. He described this noise as the crunch of footsteps in the snow, except that it seemed as if each step that was taken was three or four times the length of his own. Attempting to ignore the noise (chalking it up to the workings of his imagination), suddenly he was overcome by terror. He took off as quickly as he could until he ended up in the woodland below.
Among others who describe a similar experience, an enormous gray figure is often seen, and if not a sight of this creature, the sounds of something following behind closely. A feeling of terror has been known to seize them and lasts for as long as they are in the area.
Is there a possible explanation of the Grey Man? Could this creature be an illusion, or is it a real presence or animal? Misinterpretations of the wind around these climbers could be to blame. It could also be due to what is called a “Brocken specter,” or what happens when the sun hits a cloud bank from a particular angle.
But an actual creature living in the Scottish mountains could also exist. In the future, these animals surrounded in mystery could be proven to exist by science. But in the meantime, when you hear those footsteps creeping up behind you, be sure to calm yourself by saying it’s just your imagination. Or is it?
