Travel Information : From Kinlochewe (A832) travel E 1km to Incheril. Turn N on minor road then NW to farm at NH034625
Slioch is the highest peak on the north
shore of beautiful Loch Maree and the views from it
are stunning. Slioch is "U" shaped with two
parallel ridges running east-south-east and between them a high corrie. The
path to Letterewe on the north side of Loch Maree is the only approach, and consequently the more
southern of the two ridges is the normal ascent via the col
between Meall Each and Sgurr
Dubh. From all other directions, the slopes are steep
and frequently craggy. The summit is surrounded by crags but no scrambling is
required.
Route
Information : Follow path NW to shore of Loch Maree. On crossing bridge at NH013657
follow path NE for 700m then ascend N to col (500m, NH019674) at Meal Each.
Continue
N then NW round eastern shoulder of Sgurr Dubh to (NH014667) then ascend W onto ridge. Continue NNW
past lochans to summit of Slioch.
To descend, head East 1km then descend South into
corrie following easier slopes to rejoin original route at Meall
Each.
Allow
8 hours to complete the 19km route.
